Here is this week’s dose from Chicago’s Tastemakers! Each week we check in with our 50+ Chicago movers and shakers to see what’s going on. Stay tuned each week to get each week’s wrap, and next week’s view!

Our weekly Tastemaker Spotlight is going to help you lovely people get to know our Tastemakers a little bit better, so they’re more than just a name online bringing you the hottest events the city has to offer!

This week you get to meet Casey Meehan from Chicago Mixtape! After many years as a Chicago musician and local radio DJ, Casey realized he had amassed a pretty large collection of great local music. In Feb of 2011 he launched ChicagoMixtape.com. If you enter your email there, Casey will send you an album of great local music (primarily rock) every single Monday morning. The bands featured on each mixtape are playing in town that weekend. If you hear something you like, you are highly encouraged to attend a show / buy a record.

What drives you every day?
I get pretty excited to tinker with my website and create other sites / apps that connects art made with integrity to a larger audience. The process of creating these things gets me pretty amped up and sometimes I can’t sleep. It’s especially exciting when these things work because that dosen’t always happen. :)

What’s your least favorite mode of transportation?
A cross country trip on the Greyhound can suck pretty bad…

What sound do you love?

What is your favorite holiday destination?
White Castle.

What has been your favorite mix from Chicago Mixtape?
009 was the first one I thought I really nailed.
