This week you get to meet Czarina Mirani from 5 Magazine! Czarina (aka Czboogie) was originally a professional actress and dancer for most of her life with a serious love affair for House. In 2005 she launched 5 Magazine, North America’s only publication dedicated exclusively to underground House music. Aside from being the publisher and editor-in-chief, she also does 5 Magazine radio shows, promotes several House events in Chicago and has her own dance company, Fivestarboogie Productions, with dance performances and classes throughout the city. Her House dancing classes have been named by the Chicago Reader as the “best dance class in the city.” Czboogie‘s style of sexy vocal House music has made her an in-demand DJ all over Chicago and in cities around the U.S. as well as Hong Kong, Manila and Boracay. She currently has a residency at Smartbar (Chicago’s number one club for electronic music) and has had them as well at the legendary Boom Boom Room (the longest running House night in the world and renown host to world class DJs), Cocktail, Urban’s House, Brighter Days, GottaHaveHouseRadio.com, ChicagoHouseFM.com and RadioChaoz.com.

If you could be immortal for a day, what would you do?
Can you change that question to a year?  Then my answer would be to have a 21st birthday party every week… That would be fun.

What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?
My college education.

If you could be any neighborhood in Chicago, what neighborhood would you be?
Boystown.  I can go shopping, get a vegan omelet, see boy strippers and kiki in every bar for a 10 block radius.

What do you have stashed under your bed/mattress?
Suitcases of different sizes, cat and dog toys and bird feathers from my mean parrot Julius.

What is your favorite article from 5 Magazine from the last month?
My interview with Dennis Ferrer because he lets people HAVE IT.  He calls out all the old bitter folks stuck in the musical past and everything.
