This week you get to meet Andy Keil – founder of Pop ‘stache! Andy moved to Chicago in 2008, escaping Iowa as quickly as possible. He founded Pop ‘stache in November 2010 after learning the ropes from other local publications/tastemakers (Consequence of Sound & The Dead Hub.) Since then, he’s worn many hats and is always involved in a number of projects. Currently those are Instafeed, the simplest web browsing experience for Instagram, and a re-branding of SongLyrics.com. He’s also been known to photograph shows around town

What was the best gift you ever received?

My favorite artist+musician is Drew Roulette from the band Dredg and an ex-girlfriend got him to sketch a one-of-a-kind poster just for me. Funny thing is, we broke up before she was able to give it to me on Christmas. It’s one of my most prized possessions.

If you could be any Chicago neighborhood, what would it be and why?

Logan Square: Boiler Room, Longman & Eagle, The Owl, Two Way, Revolution. I could go on.

What is stashed under your bed/mattress?

iPads full of porn. I like to keep up with technology.

What is your favorite post from Pop ‘stache from the past month(and do you have a link to promote it)?

David Anthony, our newly appointed managing editor, interviewed Brendan Kelly of The Lawrence Arms recently where he pulled out this gem:

“The dude from Iron and Wine writes a song and somewhere in the back of his head he’s thinking, “Fuck you assholes! You thought you knew some fuckin’ good music? Fuck you! I can’t wait to see someone eat their fuckin’ own dick to this song.”

If you could be immortal for a day, what would you do?

I’d want to do pretty devious shit but since I’d have to live with repercussions the next day, I’d probably just ride my bike down 94 wearing a canadian flag like a cape and middle fingers raised high. No one likes Canada.
